Scare School Training and Character Development

Believe it or not, it takes a lot of time and training to create a good screamster character for Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends.  It doesn’t magically happen, nor does it happen overnight.

It may surprise you to know that the devoted and talented screamsters you see when you enter a zone or house do not have scripted material, nor are they given a particular character to portray.  Wait, what? It’s true.

Then, you may wonder, how do screamsters develop into characters that guests return time and again to see?

When I started working HalloWeekends at Cedar Point, I was scared to death of haunted houses.  In fact, I hated them.  I only agreed to work as a screamster because it was something that meant a great deal to my husband.  He loves Halloween and had always wanted to work at Cedar Point because he thought it would be fun.   I thought he had lost his mind!
